The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has the answer for you: no.

Last summer, researchers at the federal public health agency collected 161 filter samples from public swimming pools in the Atlanta area. More than half of those samples, 58 percent, were contaminated with E. coli.

That, the CDC reported today, “signifies that swimmers introduced fecal matter into pool water.”

Anyone who knows me knows I am a MAJOR daddy’s girl. I have been told by many a suitor that I talk about my dad way too much for anyone’s taste. I pride myself on looking like him, having the same demeanor, really just anything that is associated with my dad.

Today, however, I will get wine drunk with my sissy, moms, and grandmother. And celebrate everything that is from the maternal side of my family. The Puerto Ricans. Loud. Abrasive. Hoodrich. All the things I sometimes wish I wasn’t but have given me every ounce of strength, determination, and salsa dancing that have made me exactly who I am.

So thanks, moms. I know we don’t always get along. I know I could be less of an ass. I’m sorry. Thanks for being my mom when I just wanted a girlfriend. And a best friend when I was utterly lost. I love you to the moon and back.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t stop reading and cry for a good ten minutes after reading this passage. I must forgive myself, and believe that even if it was not always pretty, I did those things. I am not sorry, I WILL NOT let myself hurt for him anymore, maybe it was the only way I could get here.
